- Can you make other sizes than those listed?
Yes, we have numerous tool sets to make hundreds of different sizes. Custom tooling is also available for a nominal fee.
- How do you or how can I cut the tubing?
There are several ways to cut a tube. Please visit here to read our short commentary on how tubes are cut.
- Will the caps or plugs stay on the tube without additional security?
VisiPak caps and plugs fit specific tube diameter sizes by design. Our tubes are paired with a cap or plug as shown on the product charts. When correctly paired, caps and plugs provide a snug fit.
Vinyl caps are flexible and stretch to fit over the tube for a strong seal. The precision of the clear cap measurement when matched to the corresponding tube diameter provides a tight closure. Our plugs also need to be matched with accurate tube diameters to fit tightly inside the tube. All tube diameters are charted and identify which style of cap and plug correspond to pair up to secure contents.
If there is concern for tampering, additional precautions can and should be taken. Tamper evident seals, labels and/or shrink bands are all options.
- How rigid is the tubing?
The rigidity of our tubes varies, with the PETG versions classified as relatively rigid and Propionate relatively flexible. Not easily bent, the Merriam-Webster definition of rigid, describes our tubes. In common usage, as on a retail shelf, hanging in a retail display, as a storage container in the home, etc., our tubes will remain rigid. Force would need to be applied to bend our tubes.
Our bottom inserts are made from one of three materials: PVC and PETG or Propionate. View our comparison of these materials to help you see the strength of the tubes. (Our standard tubes are not made from PVC material.)
- What is the lead time?
Most production orders ship within 3 weeks. Products requiring secondary operations, such as Hang Tubes and PermaSeal Containers, require approximately one additional week. Lead time for each item is included on quotations. All production dates are subject to current capacity.
- What is the thickest tube that you can manufacture?
Depends on the diameter of the tube, but it is typically .062".
- Are your sizes and dimensions exact?
All dimensions are approximate. Typically, any dimension has a tolerance of +/-.003 to +/- .008 inches. Please contact your sales representative if dimensions are critical.
- What adhesives work with VisiPak PETG tubes?
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a commonly used solvent that works well when bonding PETG to itself or PVC materials. VisiPak recommends contacting IPS Corporation to discuss your adhesive requirements in order to determine the best adhesive for your application. IPS offers a Weld-On brand of adhesives. Weld-On 3 and and Weld-On 4 are popular adhesives used when working with PETG.
- Are your containers air/water tight?
Please contact us to discuss your specific application. VisiPak typically has product options that can be air/water tight, but they are not warranted as such and the responsibility to insure this feature lies with the purchaser.
- What are the differences in PETG and Propionate?
- Are your mailing tubes postal system approved?
Yes, all of our mailing tubes meet USPS guidelines.
- Can I get different color caps or plugs?
Not only are different colors available, vinyl cap colors are typically more vibrant. Minimums on non-stock caps and plugs range from 1,000 to 10,000 pieces depending on the size. Note: Some items are sold as a unit with both tube and cap or plug and may be limited to specific cap or plug colors.
