This client is a global manufacturer of computers, printers and consumables.
The Challenge
This client needed a small custom tray that would protect their product and be sealed into a foil pouch as part of an assembly. The client required a part with a smooth die cut edge all around the tray that still worked for their high-speed automated production line.
Trimmed with steel rule dies, thermoformed trays normally have small spots on the die cut edge that protrude slightly that keeps the part in the web until they are removed.
The Solution
To address this client's challenges, the VisiPak team successfully designed highly customized tooling and developed a custom forming process to produce the parts as required. Meeting the die cut tolerance specifications without the notch in the flange was so challenging that VisiPak was chosen to supply their manufacturing sites globally for many years.
The Result
Over the life of this project, VisiPak produced over a billion parts and maintained an exceptional quality record with the client - even working with regional thermoforming companies from around the world to educate them on how to meet the client's specifications.
